Congress

Thyroid and parathyroid surgery are two common surgical procedures that have become very safe thanks to the surgical advances. However, hypoparathyroidism remains the current concern of thyroid surgery.
New fluorescence imagining techniques, have been developed to help the detection of parathyroid glands and confirm their vascularization. This has opened a new exciting area of research for surgeons and scientists.
Moreover, our fluorescence imagining system FLUOEAM® has received the market authorization from FDA to help in real-time localization of parathyroid tissue during procedures such as thyroidectomy or parathyroidectomy.
In this context, we are delighted to see you at this first international symposium and to present to you our fluorescence imaging solutions and their various applications.

Last November FLUOPTICS receives the market authorization from FDA for FLUOBEAM® to detect parathyroid tissue in real time during surgery.
It is a recognition of the performance of the FLUOBEAM® and for the development of fluorescence imaging.
Today, we are highlighted in the Presences revue of the Grenoble CCI for this market authorization.

FLUOPTICS receives the market authorization from FDA for FLUOBEAM® to detect parathyroid tissue in real time during surgery. The FLUOBEAM® Imaging System becomes the first and unique system certified for this indication.
The FLUOBEAM® provides, earlier, real-time location of parathyroid tissue during surgical procedures such as thyroidectomy (surgery to remove all or part of the thyroid) and parathyroidectomy (surgery to remove one or more parathyroid glands). The early detection of theses glands allows reduces postoperative hypocalcemia.
It is a recognition of the performance of the FLUOBEAM® and for the development of fluorescence imaging.

Publications

Parathyroid gland (PG) identification during thyroid and parathyroid surgery is challenging. Accidental parathyroidectomy increases the rate of postoperative hypocalcaemia. Recently, autofluorescence with near infrared light (NIRL) has been described for PG visualization. The aim of this study is to analyze the increased rate of visualization of PGs with the use of NIRL compared to white light (WL).

Publications

Parathyroid glands (PGs) can be particularly hard to distinguish from surrounding tissue and thus can be damaged or removed during thyroidectomy. Postoperative hypoparathyroidism is the most common complication after thyroidectomy. Very recently, it has been found that the parathyroid tissue shows near-infrared (NIR) auto-fluorescence which could be used for intraoperative detection, without any use of contrast agents.
